We want to appoint a highly motivated and enthusiastic Welfare and Care Assistant to join our College support team. As a member of our Support Team, you will work closely with other support staff, teaching assistants and teachers to support young people with a range of disabilities and support needs. The role supports learners’ personal and physical care needs including changing and feeding, as well as supporting young people in classes and to access community-based activities including pushing wheelchairs. This is a term-time only role with hours to be agreed with the successful candidates.

This could also be an ideal role for parents/carers who want to work around their children’s school hours.

You will be confident about working with (or learning to work with) young people with a range of SEND needs and either have or be willing to learn about best practice in the area. You will be passionate and open to learn. You will work well in a team and have excellent communication skills. You will be enjoy working in a varied and dynamic environment based in college and supporting young people to access their community and work experience opportunities.

Newfriars College is an Independent Specialist Day College in North Staffordshire dedicated to supporting young people with learning difficulties and disabilities aged 16–25.

Actual Salary: £17,408 – £17,697

Hours: 32.5 hours per week Term Time only plus 5 inset days (39 weeks)
