Portland School has an opening for a Premises Manager to join their team!

The role will be to manage and provide efficient and effective facilities support to the School ensuring that the security and general appearance of the buildings and surrounding areas are maintained to good standards.

You will be required to work across both sites, overseeing a small team of maintenance staff and cleaners.

An example of duties include:

  • To ensure heating plant and equipment is efficiently and effectively operated, make adjustments as necessary and report defects and malfunctions to the Principal/Business Manager. 
  • To be responsible for maintaining the security of the premises (buildings and grounds) and its contents including monitoring the school’s CCTV system. 
  • Maintain light fittings replacing where necessary minor parts such as tubes, bulbs, fuses, starters and diffusers, in accordance with safe working practices. 
  • Remedial action after break-ins, for example boarding up broken windows, reglazing small and large internal windows

We are a split site school with two provisions to meet different needs, one at Trent Vale one at Blythe Bridge.  We have an amazing staff team who work tirelessly to support approximately 120 pupils with Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs.  

As a specialist school our pupils benefit from smaller class sizes, a more practical curriculum, access to alternative accreditations and a highly trained staff team.  Both sites have spacious grounds allowing us to provide outdoor education, with our Blythe Bridge site boasting specialist classrooms for Design and technology, Art and Design, Science, Food technology and PE.
